The traffic plan rehearsed in the Cinnamon Gardens area yesterday and
today will come into effect permanently from 1am on Wednesday (October
05), according to a police release.
However, slight changes are
to be made to the traffic plan, intended to reduce traffic within
Colombo, before it is implemented, police spokesman SSP Maxi Proctor
says in the release.
The changes are as follows:
Vehicles
heading towards the Independence Square roundabout by passing Nanda
Motors could travel straight towards the square and could also turn
right from the roundabout towards Reed Avenue, however cannot turn left
from the roundabout to Maitland Crescent.
Vehicles heading
towards the Independence Square roundabout from the Sri Lanka Foundation
Institute along the Independence road cannot turn to the left.
Vehicles
cannot turn left from the state administrative junction after passing
the finger print office in Longden Place. But vehicles can travel
strait, along Maitland Place.
Vehicles travelling along Vidya
Mawatha can turn left towards Londgen Place or right towards Maitland
Place. They can also turn left towards the Independence Square
roundabout by coming to the Maitland Crescent junction and turning right
towards Horton Place.
Vehicles travelling along Gregory’s Road
can only turn right towards Horton Place and cannot turn left towards
the Independence Square roundabout.
