Transport Minister Kumara Welgama said that during his visit to
Jaffna, he promised to provide a better transport service for the
resettled people. Keeping his promise the Minister handed over five bus
engines to the CTB Jaffna district manager K. Ganepillai recently to
operate in Jaffna. The Matugama CTB depot had repaired those buses. Minister Welgama told The Island that
the resettlement process was nearing completion and a large number of
displaced people had returned to their original places. These people
were in need of better transport service to attend to their day-to-day
activities, he said. He added that the five buses, fitted
with those engines, would be operated from the temporary camps to the
resettled villages. The displaced people would find it easy to travel
without congestion, he said. The cost of the repair of the
emgines was Rs. 500,000/= He said he was glad to see the Jaffna depot
earning a substantial revenue. Provision of a better transport service
connecting the North and the East was one of his dreams and it had now
materialized, he said. Sourse: http://www.island.lk/index.php?page_cat=article-details&page=article-details&code_title=13575
